This month it’s all about “The Blues.” From trailblazers Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Memphis Minnie, Deborah Coleman, Bonnie Raitt, and others, to modern day artists like Sue Foley, Ana Popovic, Samantha Fish, Joanne Shaw Taylor, and the list goes on! Here at Guitar Girl Magazine, in this month’s issue, we feature great female blues guitarists Diana Rein, Peach, Kathryn Grimm, Sunny War, Ally Venable, Sue Foley, and Rory Block. We have a feature on “Sister Rosetta Tharpe: The First Lady of Gibson and Rock and Roll” and we’ll talk about “Ten of Blues Early Influential Female Guitarists” from Elizabeth Cotten to Bonnie Raitt.
There’s a blues lesson from Nikki O’Neill and we’ve got a few tips on how to improve your practice skills, and even which strings and pedals are best-suited for blues. For reviews, we’ll cover a few guitars, a strap, strings, and capo. Also, hear what Rory Block had to say about her Martin Guitar and her Martin OM-40.
Enjoy!

Fantastic article on those blues guitarists! It’s downright criminal that some of these luminaries aren’t included with the likes of Brownie McGhee or Big Bill Broonzy. This piece would form the basis for a great historical book.
