So I originally got the idea for the song after I’d been talking to this guy for a few weeks and we’d agreed to not do anything serious, however, I ended up catching feelings way too quickly. Then I saw him out in public with his arm around another girl and it freaked me out so I got the idea for the chorus, and the song spilled out from there!
Do you have a favorite part of the song or a favorite lyric?
I really love the entire chorus as well as the line in the 2nd verse that goes “& I know you’ll text the next day, & I’ll over analyze every word you say. Cause I build this world up where we might fall in love & you’ll say those words, you’ll say it straight to my face.”
What do you hope your fans/listeners take away with them after they listen to “Led Myself On”?
I hope fans will enjoy the story of a time when I caught feelings too soon, but also be able to feel comforted if they’ve had a similar experience as well.
What made you want to learn to play guitar and start writing your own songs?
I always loved pop music and when I started taking vocal lessons with this one teacher, she suggested that I learn so that I could write my own songs. I bought my first guitar when I was 13 and soon wrote my first real song after that!
What is your go-to guitar?
I love my Taylor K24CE, it has Koa wood so it matches my hair pretty well!
What is your advice for young women who hope to work in the music industry?
Be persistent, never give up no matter how many nos you hear. If this is something you truly want to pursue. Surround yourself with good people and stay true to your art!
