Pop singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ava Della Pietra drops her new single, “happy for you,” following on the heels of last year’s EP, truth or truth.
Ava explains, “Music is such a powerful way to convey my thoughts and ideas; it’s like a journal, a true snapshot of my life. Looking at it retrospectively, it has helped me discover a lot about myself – I hope my songs do the same for others.”
At the age of four, Ava performed in public, singing “Somewhere Over the Rainbow.” By the time she was six, she had an agent, and at seven, she was performing as Little Cosette in the 25th Anniversary National touring production of Les Misérables. She then toured in White Christmas.
When she was 10, she started a two-year run on Broadway as an original cast member of School of Rock, during which she performed at the Tony Awards, the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, and for a packed audience including Barbra Streisand and Andrew Lloyd Webber.
A multi-instrumentalist who plays piano, guitar, bass, violin, and ukulele, Ava recorded her first song at the age of 10. According to Ava, songwriting comes naturally.
“Songs tend to come to me when I am outside taking a walk or riding my bicycle. I will sing a verse and a chorus into my phone, and then when I get back inside, I write it all down and put chords to it on either the ukulele, piano, or guitar.”
Since then, Ava’s career has taken off. Her debut single, “Christmas Tonight,” was named one of the ‘Best Holiday Songs’ of the year by Tiger Beat Magazine, and her follow-up single, “Optimist,” reached #50 on the Top 40 Radio chart, and received acclaim from elite outlets, including Newsday.
With songs such as “power of you,” “long way home,” and “my boyfriend,” Ava has amassed over 600,000 streams, more than 340,000 collective social media followers, and 1 million YouTube views.
“happy for you” opens on low-slung, swirling tones, followed by ramping up to a contagious rhythm made up of potent percussion and a throbbing bassline. Lustrous, kaleidoscopic leitmotifs travel overhead as Ava’s evocative, crème de la crème voice imbues the lyrics with alluring timbres.
Drenched in infectious pop flavors, “happy for you” highlights the plush, honeyed, irresistible voice of Ava Della Pietra.
